M.D.C Rules & Expectations
Like every constructive group, as a student at D.M.C,
there are certain rules that students will have to
abide by and certain things that will be expected
of each and every member. Having stated this,
as a measure of order, there will most definitely be consequences if these rules and expectations are not acknowledged. M.D.C reserves all rights to terminate a student’s participation in or continuation of classes if deemed fit to do so.
Rules
-
RESPECT: All students must have respect for themselves and each other. Disrespect of any form i.e. {swearing/indecent language, rude body gestures of any sort, mocking, disregard for correction or the feelings of others etc.} will be dealt with accordingly.
-
PROFESSIONALISM AND EFFICENCY: will be greatly stressed upon. It is very important that students are on time and ready to rehearse or perform at the times that are scheduled. If any member is unable to attend a dance session for any reason, a written or emailed excuse will be expected before the next session. If he/she is going to be late, it would be expected that the administrator or dance instructor be informed by any means possible i.e. {word of mouth, phone call, text, note etc.}
-
ATTENDANCE: is very essential and if a student misses 3 classes in a row without notifying administration about the reason for their absences, he or she will be suspended from 2 dance sessions. If the missed classes exceed 3, further action will be taken to correct the problem, (that may include termination from the class.)
-
DISCIPLINE: is the foundation to success at M.D.C. All students should conduct themselves in a mature and respectful manner. That includes maintaining a noise level that isn’t disruptive.
-
NO FOOD: drink or gum is allowed in the Dance Studio unless permitted. Water is acceptable.
-
CLOTHING: Students are required to wear comfortable clothing. "Jeans" is NOT suitable for dancing, it restricts the ability to stretch and so they won’t be permitted without permission.
-
APPROPRIATE DANCE SHOES: are required for all dance classes. Only closed up shoes will be accepted unless required or permitted otherwise. “Flip flops” or “sleepers” are unacceptable without permission since they limit movement and may cause injury.
-
PROMOTIONS: All Students begin the D.M.C dance program at the “basic level” and are promoted to higher classes at the teacher's discretion. It is not automatic that any member will be promoted. Only hard work and dedication qualifies a student to do so.
-
ELABORATE JEWELLERY: will not be permitted since they may cause injury. Students will be asked to remove large earrings, necklaces, bracelets or any excessive jewellery before classes begin.
-
CONFLICTS & MISUNDERSTANDINGS: Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion and should find productive and reasonable ways of resolving any misunderstandings. Personal matters should not interfere with the fluidity of the class and any concern a member might have should be brought to the attention of the dance instructor in order to be dealt with accordingly.
-
TUITION & OTHER FEES: All tuition fees are expected to be paid on time. Failure to do so will result in a $10.00 fine/increase on that member’s balance. If this problem exceeds, it will be dealt with accordingly.
-
RESPONSIBILITY: All students above the age of 12 are asked to take responsibility and accountability for themselves and their actions. The dance instructor and other personnel will NOT be held accountable for any injuries or misfits caused by any student’s own mischief, disobedience or failure to adhere to the rules of the class.
-
WARM UPS: It is very important that students warm up properly before every class in order to prevent injury. D.M.C will not be held responsible for any injuries caused before, during or after any sessions.
